Principal Engineer

The organisational challenges that DAZN presents in terms of being a large engineering team are really interesting.

The scale and size of the business are very different to the companies I have worked at in the past.

Tech Code

DAZN has millions of subscribers and a very high number of concurrent viewers. It is a very interesting technical challenge from that perspective. We also use a range of cutting edge technologies. These are the things that attracted me to joining the company.

I have purposefully chosen my career path so I can experience different domains. I have worked in investment banking and e-commerce. I spent a lot of years in mobile and Facebook gaming. So far it has been a really interesting journey.

In the Backend Team we want our engineers to be owners of the system end-to-end. It is not a case of you writing some code and throwing it over the fence to someone else to look after. We want engineers that can take ownership of the system, making design decisions and architectural decisions. They write the code, they implement it and they make sure it is well tested. Once it has gone live they are still responsible and on call for the system.

In return we give you the freedom to choose the best tools that make sense in order to implement whatever system you are working on.

Interesting Fact

I used to study martial arts when I was at university. I actually performed on stage in Trafalgar Square in front of 3,500 people with my martial arts brothers and teachers.

We give you the freedom to choose the best tools that make sense in order to implement whatever system you are working on.
