What's your new role about?

As a Paralegal within the Legal Team of DAZN Japan, you’ll be supporting the rapidly evolving legal needs of this dynamic and exciting sports media business.
The successful candidate will work under the direction of the Legal Counsel, DAZN Japan to provide a broad range of legal support, including contract negotiations, legal research, and project implementation, working with the relevant business leads and other professionals.
The role represents a fantastic opportunity for an experienced paralegal to move into one of the most exciting businesses in the sports industry. Although the role will have some core responsibilities, it is deliberately broad in scope to give you the chance to obtain a wide skill and knowledge base.

As new Paralegal, you’ll have the opportunity to:

  • You'll be an integral part of DAZN’s legal function, which is responsible for providing support to all aspects of the DAZN business - from rights acquisitions, marketing, consumer regulations, distribution agreements and commercial premises. The successful candidate will focus on matters relating to DAZN’s Japanese business and can expect to undertake a wide range of work, including:

  • Drafting and negotiating standard commercial agreements and non-disclosure agreements
  • Conducting legal research and managing communications with regulatory bodies in Japan
  • Working closely with the Legal Counsel and external counsels to assist with the implementation of various business projects
  • Overseeing the contract approval/signing process and legal support request process
  • Developing and implementing legal process improvements from time to time
  • Managing and quality checking legal translations by external agencies occasionally (Japanese to English and English to Japanese)
  • Supporting the legal team by developing routine legal training activities and coordinating meetings etc.

You’ll be set up for success if you have:

  • Although DAZN is always willing to consider a wide range of candidates for its roles, as a guide the successful candidate is likely to have the following experience level and skills:

  • Basic knowledge of Japanese law (e.g., undergraduate degree in law)
  • At least 3-5 years of experience working at a law firm or the legal department of an international corporation
  • Experience drafting/reviewing legal documents such as NDAs and commercial agreements
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (Native Japanese and Business level English)
  • An ability to multitask, work under pressure, and meet tight deadlines
  • A well-rounded personality with the capacity to work effectively with others from a wide range of professional disciplines
  • Self-starter with the ability to make independent decisions and the judgment to know when to seek guidance

Even better if you have:

  • Interest in Sports Media
  • Competency working with enterprise software tools such as Microsoft Office, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Teams
